Big Ben, Heard Island

The Big Ben caldera seems to be boiling over in this shot taken halfway up the Brown Glacier. The violent winds that howl off the mountain here tear clouds to shreds. My field companion Martin Truffer referred to the mountain as "the magician's kitchen".
