People and cargo trickled on to the boat. For one brief optimistic moment, I thought we might get away with a very roomy trip. We waited. A group of local women counted huge wads of cash at the front of the boat. An official looking uniformed man leapt from boat to boat. We waited. We were starting to see why it was referred to as the "slow boat".
